The Latest AHA Update for Virtual Training posted 5/4/23.
The AHA has a Virtual Training Option to complete Skills practice / testing for those who have completed the Online portion of a Heartsaver Blended Program. Virtual Training can not be used to offer and complete a Classroom or Non Blended Heartsaver Course.
Effective August 1st, 2023, the Virtual Training Option can only be used for Heartsaver Blended Courses skills check-off’s. (Possibly to also include BLS Heartcode Blended Skills Check off’s. This will be determined by July 1st, 2023.)
ACLS, ACLS-EP, PALS & PEARS can no longer be completed with Virtual Training after August 1st, 2023.
To use the Virtual Training option for Heartsaver Blended Courses, the following requirements must be followed:
Before and Instructor uses the Virtual Training Option for Heartsaver Blended Courses, they must apply and receive a Course Approval number from ERTSS.
- The Student must successfully complete the Online portion of the Blended course and have the completion certificate available at the time of the Virtual practice/check-off.
- The student must have all required equipment present onsite to complete the skills practice / check-off. This equipment list is provided in the Heartsaver Instructor Manual and is the same that would be used for a classroom or and In-person skills practice / check-off for a blended course. AHA also offers the Heartsaver Virtual package that includes the equipment the student would need onsite.
- You must have a reliable video conferencing tool to view all practice and complete skills check-offs.
- Follow the same steps as the In-person Skills Practice / Check-off for a blended Heartsaver Course as indicated in your Heartsaver Instructor Manual.
